His home incinerated by villagers fearing the Plague,
a boy finds himself suddenly without his parents, without a name and without hope.
However - blessed by the magic of the great Faery, Lily, he has regained his health
as well as powers even he does not know he possesses. The last thing Lady Lily gives
to him before his journey begins is a name.
He travels now as: Cat.

Shunned and Demonized for her appearance, fox-tailed, fox-eared Sarah has no
friends to turn to and no family to take her in. Having narrowly avoided an
attack in the village, she seeks refuge in a charred and smoldering hovel. It
is here she will be joined forever with her first true friends, a young boy of
whom Lady Lily promises great things and a guide from Faery. With Cat
as her guardian and Bing as guide, she begins her journey - and her
newfound family.

Loyal to Lily and to her ideals of peace and coexistence, Kristin Bing has followed his
lady's commands and taken up leading a small group of humans to the only place they might
be protected: a secret island whose name can not be uttered. A creature of the faery realm,
he employs his powers to disguise himself and retain a low profile. His aid, it seems, must
be short lived, as Bing can not remain on the island.

Wise beyond her years (though her age is a mystery, itself), Alexandria,
known as Truth, lives on an island haven, hidden from both the human and faery realms.
With a mysterious magic of her own, she can sense any lie and knows things no human
should know.

Considered a snob by some, a spy by Faery, and a human by outsiders, Dor definitely has problems.
The son of Nymndemise and Lily and rightful heir to his father's throne, only a select few know
he actually exists. After being imprisoned in his own home and some quick cosmetic surgery he is
rescued by Sarah, Cat, and Bing. He now lives, if reluctantly on the island.

Amicable, quiet, and mysterious, Deedra spent most of her life in Nymndemise's castle as a nanny
to the residents' faery children. Her constant contact with the areas magic has twisted her
physically and perhaps mentally but she remains kind -unlike the other human resident of
castle Nymndemise, Mr Peeps. When Dor was rescued, in a last moment act to repay her kindness,
Bing pushed her to join the inhabitants of the island. Now she spends her days as a loyal student
to Truth and is often plaqued by Dor who feels the need to
make her feel inferior for simply being human.

The savvy Tom Collins is a very good friend of Cat's. Cat once spent two years off the island with this sharp character, but unfortunatly for Tom, when they returned to the island things went awry. This fuels Dor's mistrust of him - - and it doesn't help that they're polar opposites either.

Libby is Cat's little sister and the Fae's big problem. She is the Vortex and she is inadvertently destroying the world of magic. She is wisked away to the island as a baby because everything magical she goes near gets absorbed which is the reason for her isolation on the island. As you can guess, it's a bit of a burden, however, there are benefits.
